Leading the Future of Coaching
When ICF was founded in 1995, its purpose was to give credibility to an emerging profession and give coaches a place to connect with one another.
Today, ICF is the world’s largest organization of professionally trained coaches, and we are the leading voice for the global coaching community. Together, we are pursuing a powerful vision: ensuring that coaching is an integral part of a thriving society and every ICF Member represents the highest quality of professional coaching.
As we approach our 25th anniversary, we are taking bold steps to accelerate our achievement of this vision, to lead the future of coaching and to create more value for ICF Members.
In January 2020, the International Coach Federation will become the International Coaching Federation.
This is more than a new name: It’s a new way of serving coaches, coaching clients, our communities and the world as we accelerate the pursuit of our vision.
The new ICF will be the global organization for coaches and coaching, and our members will have new opportunities to engage in the ICF ecosystem.
We will achieve this through the work of six unique family organizations. Each will have a dedicated board and resources to move their work forward.
ICF Family Organizations
- An association for ICF coaches—the trained, professional coach practitioners who represent the highest quality of professional coaching. We’re committed to keeping the needs of ICF Members at the heart of all we do. As a result of this expansion, we will provide ICF Members and Chapters with access to new opportunities for learning, networking, collaboration and business development.
- The ICF Foundation, which is on a mission to connect and equip coaches and organizations to accelerate and amplify impact on social progress through coaching.
- A thought leadership body that will help create and influence the future of coaching. This organization will facilitate interaction between coaches, innovators, researchers, technologies, venture capitalists, influencers and members of the media. Its work will look toward the future, yielding outputs including white papers, research reports, publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and topical conferences and symposia.
- An entity promoting the growth of strong coaching cultures in businesses and organizations. By expanding our influence in organizations, we will enhance the market for ICF coaches and lead the way in setting high standards for managers and leaders using coaching skills.
- Two distinct organizations for Credentialing and Accreditation. This move aligns with best practices for credentialing and accreditation organizations and enables us to create new opportunities, products and services for the global coaching community.
