ICF Bangkok Leadership Team Recognized With 2016 Chair’s Award

Outgoing ICF Global Board Chair recognizes volunteer leaders for promoting professional coaching in Thailand.

Lexington, Kentucky, USA—The volunteer leadership team of the International Coach Federation’s (ICF) Bangkok chapter has been honored with the 2016 ICF Chair’s Award.

Each year, the leader of ICF Global presents an individual or group with the Chair’s Award in recognition of outstanding work to further ICF’s mission and vision.

Leda Turai Petrauskiene, MCC, Immediate Past Chair of the ICF Global Board, presented ICF Bangkok’s leadership team with the award during a January 16, 2017, reception at the Siam Kempinski Hotel.

“During my term as ICF Global Board Chair, I promoted collective and collaborative leadership with the belief that, by working together with the same vision in our minds and hearts, we can achieve more coherence and, therefore, more impactful results. The ICF Bangkok leadership team embodied this spirit in their work to revive and develop a previously inactive chapter. They have proven that with collaboration and persistence, we can achieve meaningful goals,” Petrauskiene said.

Professional coaching is on the rise in Asia, according to the 2016 ICF Global Coaching Study. There are 3,700 professional coach practitioners in the region, and they are responsible for total annual revenue of $113 million USD (up from $95 million USD in 2011). ICF’s importance in the region is also growing: Sixty-one percent of Asian respondents to the 2016 study said they held ICF Memberships (up from 54 percent in 2011) and 53 percent said they held ICF Credentials (up from 30 percent in 2011).

ICF’s chapters play an integral role in this growth by serving as the face and voice of ICF in their local communities. In Bangkok, a group of volunteer leaders came forward to revive an inactive local chapter. In so doing, they contributed to increased awareness of the value and benefits of professional coaching across Thailand. Key achievements of the leadership team included hosting a successful conference with 200-plus attendees during International Coaching Week 2016, relaunching the chapter’s website and Facebook page, and creating new professional development offerings for chapter members.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) is dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high ethical standards, providing independent certification and building a worldwide network of credentialed coaches across a variety of coaching disciplines. ICF is active in representing all facets of the coaching industry, including Executive, Life Vision and Enhancement, Leadership, Relationship, and Career Coaching. Its 29,000-plus members located in 140 countries work toward the common goal of enhancing awareness of coaching, upholding the integrity of the profession, and continually educating themselves with the newest research and practices.
