ICF transformed into a six-organization ecosystem to better serve coaches and communities worldwide. Membership surged to nearly 40,000, with credential-holders increasing almost 400% over the past decade. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, ICF supported the coaching community with resources, extended memberships, and pro bono coaching, strengthening its commitment to adaptability and care in challenging times.

The Hub of Coaching

In our 25th anniversary year, ICF took a bold step forward into the future of coaching transforming into the International Coaching Federation. We not only adopted a new name, but also a new way of serving coaches, clients, communities, and the world.

We evolved from a single entity into a full ecosystem of six family organizations: ICF Coaching in Organizations, ICF Coaching Education, ICF Credentials and Standards, ICF Foundation, ICF Professional Coaches, and ICF Thought Leadership Institute.

25 Years Strong: ICF by the Numbers

ICF’s growth remained strong, with membership increasing by 134% and credential-holders by nearly 400% over the past decade.

  • ICF Chapters: 143 in 80 countries and territories.
  • ICF Members: 39,787 in 148 countries and territories.
  • ICF Credential-holders: 34,350 in 134 countries and territories.

Responding to the Global COVID-19 Pandemic

Recognizing both the professional and the personal difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, ICF offered support to members, credential-holders, and others in the coaching community through:

  • Resource guides and trainings to help coaches care for themselves and meet client needs during the unprecedented period.
  • Extensions for ICF membership, credentials, and program accreditation.
  • Pro bono coaching opportunities for those in need.
