Renew Your ICF Credential Today

If you are unable to submit your credential renewal application by its expiration date, ICF Credentials and Standards provides a two-month grace period during which time your credential will remain active.

However, if you are unable to submit your credential renewal application by the end of the grace period, your credential will lapse, and your credential is no longer active. You will still have an additional 10 months to renew your credential, but you will need to provide additional Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units for each lapsed month.

The number of CCE units required is dependent on when your renewal application was due.

Once a full year has passed from the expiration date of the credential, it is now fully expired. To reinstate your ICF Credential, you will be required to submit a new credential application rather than completing a credential renewal application.

CCE units required for renewals that were due on May 31:

  • Application submitted in September: 42.4 CCE units, 25.44 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in October: 43.6 CCE units, 26.16 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in November: 44.8 CCE units, 26.88 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in December: 46 CCE units, 27.6 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in January 2023: 47.2 CCE units, 28.32 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in February 2023: 48.4 CCE units, 29.04 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in March 2023: 49.6 CCE units, 29.76 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in April 2023: 50.8 CCE units, 30 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in May 2023: 52 CCE units, 31.2 of which must be in Core Competencies.


CCEs required for renewals that were due on June 30:

  • Application submitted in September: 41.2 CCE units, 24.72 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in October: 42.4 CCE units, 25.44 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in November: 43.6 CCE units, 26.16 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in December: 44.8 CCE units, 26.88 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in January 2023: 46 CCE units, 27.6 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in February 2023: 47.2 CCE units, 28.32 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in March 2023: 48.4 CCE units, 29.04 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in April 2023: 49.6 CCE units, 29.76 of which must be in Core Competencies.
  • Application submitted in May 2023: 50.8 CCE units, 30 of which must be in Core Competencies.
