ICF Credentials and Standards Surpasses 40,000 Credential-holders Worldwide

New milestone comes just three years after breaking 25,000 record

Lexington, Kentucky, USA – The International Coaching Federation (ICF) Credentials and Standards has just surpassed 40,000 active ICF Credential-holders worldwide.

Since its launch in 1998, the ICF Credential has become the only globally recognized professional coaching certification. Today, ICF Credential-holders live and work in 140 countries and territories.

“This milestone marks a pivotal moment in the history of ICF — from the 34 coach practitioners who received the first-ever ICF Credential in 1998, to over 40,000 active Credential-holders today. And while this alone is worth celebrating, this moment means so much more to the coaching profession, to coaching clients, to our world,” said Carrie Abner, vice president of ICF Credentials and Standards. “Marking 40,000 credentialed coaches highlights not only the achievements of those coach practitioners, but also the tremendous impact they are having in communities across the globe. This milestone highlights how each day, the coaching profession is shining even brighter than the day before, becoming a more integral part of our society and our world.”

ICF Credentials and Standards provides the most globally recognized coaching credentials that recognize the competence of coaches across their coaching journey through independent assessment and rigorous eligibility requirements. Credentialed coaches have been verified as having met the global gold standard for professional and ethical practice in coaching.

This new milestone comes just three years after surpassing a then-record 25,000 active Credential-holders worldwide, and follows an increase of 400% over the last decade. This growth further demonstrates global recognition of ICF as the standard-bearer for quality and ethics within the coaching profession.

ICF Credential-holders are invited to celebrate this milestone on social media by sharing their credential badges with the hashtag #ICFShineOn.
