Introduction to ICF Level 2 Coaching Education Accreditation
Level 2 accreditation is for coaching education that goes beyond the basics. It provides comprehensive, in-depth training and mentor support, equipping students with the expertise needed to engage in higher-level coaching and deeper client relationships, leading to more successful coaching outcomes.
Graduates of a Level 2 accredited program not only build the foundational skills for the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential, but they also qualify to apply directly for the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential — significantly enhancing their career opportunities. This makes Level 2 education highly attractive to coaches.
To be eligible for Level 2 accreditation, your coaching education program must provide the following for each student:
- 125-175 student coach-specific contact learning hours.
- Observation and written feedback from six coaching sessions.
- 10 hours of mentor coaching over a minimum period of three months.
- A final performance evaluation at the PCC minimum skill level.
In addition, your organization must have a director of education role that provides oversight of the curriculum, instructional processes, education of instructors, and all observation and examination processes.
Elevates Your Program's Prestige
Level 2 accreditation sets your institution apart as a leader in coaching education. It demonstrates that your program meets ICF’s rigorous global standards, making it a recognized source of high-quality training. This enhanced reputation can attract more students and industry recognition.
Expands Your Offerings
By providing a comprehensive education that prepares students for both ACC and PCC credentials, you expand your program’s appeal. Students seeking to advance their coaching careers will see your institution as a trusted path to more prestigious certifications.
Increases Student Enrollment and Demand
Level 2 accreditation signals a higher level of education, drawing in serious students who are motivated to invest in programs that will give them a competitive edge. This can lead to higher enrollment and long-term growth for your institution.
Boosts Graduate Success
Graduates of Level 2 programs are fully prepared for advanced certification and leadership roles in coaching. The success of your alumni enhances your program’s reputation, leading to positive word-of-mouth and lasting impact.
Application Cost for Level 2 Accreditation
Programs with 125-150 Contact Hours = $3,000 USD.
Programs with 151+ Contact Hours = $3,500 USD.
Please note: Application fees are non-refundable and do not guarantee accreditation approval.
Level 2 Accreditation Start Date
Your Level 2 accreditation is valid for three calendar years, beginning on the date the application was submitted.
If you’ve already graduated individuals from your program prior to accreditation approval, your accreditation can be applied retroactively to the most recent graduates, meaning that those graduates have completed Level 2 coaching education.
