This 60-minute, on-demand research webinar, originally presented to the ICF Research Community, is your window into ICF’s competency and assessment development process.

In 2017, ICF began a job analysis of professional coaching to determine what updates should be made to the Core Competencies. This project took a “clean slate” approach to understand how coaches currently practice. This lengthy process resulted in an updated set of Core Competencies.

From the updated Core Competencies emerged a completely new written credentialing exam, as well as new performance exams for all credential levels.

This session will illustrate the elements of this six-year process and the role of professional coaches as subject-matter experts and academic rigor.
