ICF Coaching Education Board of Directors

The ICF Coaching Education Global Board of Directors is comprised of expert and industry leaders whose commitment, participation and leadership help move the coaching profession forward. As volunteer leaders, they play a critical role in ensuring that ICF Coaching Education serves as the global leader for the accreditation of coaching education organizations.

  • Why Serve on the Board of Directors?

    Envisioning a global hub for coach training program accreditation and standards, ICF Coaching Education’s mission is to lead the way in setting the standard for excellence and advancement of coaching education.

  • Who Are We Looking For?

    ICF Coaching Education is looking for individuals from diverse backgrounds, and with varied skill sets, perspectives and voices to help ICF Coaching Education fulfill its strategic vision. Individuals who are inspired by our mission should apply. We are looking for individuals who are motivated to contribute their expertise to grow ICF Coaching Education’s capacity and impact. 

  • What Are We Looking For?

    ICF Coaching Education is currently in year year one of its multi-year Strategic Plan (FY2024 – FY2027).  There will be up to three (3) open positions for the ICF Coaching Education Board of Directors starting in January 2024. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated to excellence in coach education and training. 

  • Eligibility Requirements

    To be eligible to serve on the board, please review the following requirements:

    Board Criteria

    1. We begin with candidates who have a passion for the future of coaching and in looking for ways to have coaching education contribute to leading the future of coaching. 
    2. Directors may be active (but not a board member) in one of the ICF Family Organizations or a member of the public at large. 
    3. Experience with and understanding of accreditation standards in coaching or in other areas. 

    Experience

    1. Significant involvement and proven leadership in strategic thinking and execution. 
    2. Knowledge of and experience with ICF and/or coaching.
    3. Experience and influence in policy making. 
    4. Experience as governance board of directors. 
    5. Experience in accreditation or with accreditation bodies. 
    6. Experience in the principles of instructional design. 
    7. Demonstrated global leadership experience. 
    8. Financial acumen. 

    Competencies

    1. Ability to inspire program engagement in alignment with ICF Coaching Education’s strategic goals.
    2. Conceptual thinking.

  • Board Member Expectations

     

    The ICF Coaching Education Board of Directors is a governance board. We expect board members to have the capacity to think and act as oversight with an orientation to the future of coaching education. It is important that all members collaborate well and engage in productive dialog. All members will be expected to commit to 3-5 hours of one-off and scheduled board meetings/working sessions per month.

     ICF Coaching Education board members are required to attend at minimum two one (1) and up to two (2) annual board meetings in person: time of year and location to be determined annually by the board. ICF CE shall offer each board member compensation to cover travel-related expenses to attend the annual in-person board meetings. ICF CE will also fully cover expenses related to any necessary board retreat. Such retreats, for instance a strategic planning retreat that occurs every three years, are in addition to the annual in-person board meetings. 

Nomination and Appointment Process

To be considered by the ICF Coaching Education Nominating Committee, each applicant is asked to submit an application. At the end of the application window, the Nominating Committee will review all applications. Select candidates may be asked to participate in an interview. After a thorough review, candidates will be notified of their application status, after which the approved Board Members will be announced.
